Haad Rin Nai and Haad Rin Nok give the area two distinct stretches of coast, with cafés and restaurants also close to the property. The streets connect the village centre with the waterfront and ferry access.

The Haad Rin Queen ferry terminal is 300 m away. From Bangrak on Koh Samui, the Haad Rin Queen sails directly to Haad Rin in about 20–30 minutes. Travellers arriving at Thong Sala can take a shared songthaew to Haad Rin. The road to Haad Rin is steep, so take care if travelling by scooter. Summer Sand has no parking available on site; the nearby ferry terminal is a practical arrival point for travellers coming by boat.

Haad Rin Nok hosts the Full Moon Party each month, with the event site 450 m from the hostel. Haad Yuan Beach is 1.8 km away; it has no road access and can be reached by taxi-boat from Haad Rin. Leela Beach is another nearby shore. February to April is generally the driest, calmest period on Koh Phangan, while the east coast can have rougher seas in November and December. Sea conditions matter when planning boat trips to beaches without road access.
